Day 76 of 100 Days
Wednesday, 17th March 2021
Happy St Patrick’s Day! I can’t actually believe that we’re in the middle of March already. The sun is starting to shine, my tomato seedlings are starting to come through and before I know it, it’s going to be Easter. Projects are now coming to a head, and it’s going to be really strange once they’re finished…
What: 48 Hour Relay Catch-Up
Organisation: Only A Pavement Away
This morning, we had a catch-up on the 48 Hour Relay fundraiser that we’re launching now so that people can partake on Easter weekend. Easter is traditionally one of the busiest weekends of the year, as it’s essentially a four day weekend, and Friday, Saturday and Sunday nights all become late-night drinking fests. For that reason, it's such a huge shame that hospitlity outlets will be missing their second Easter in a row, and I'm gutted for them that they will be missing out on so much revenue. We're hoping that this fundraiser will give our hospo friends something else to think about, although it's so difficult to ask people to raise money when they might be struggling themselves. As I’m already focussed on the Transforming Autism Project’s March For Autism fundraiser with my son, I won’t be taking part in this fundraiser because I’m working on a first come, first served basis - and TAP got in there quicker!
What: Online Auction
Organisation: Dons Local Action Group
We are live! The auction launched today, and I am incredibly relieved to say that there were relatively few hiccups. The Hospitality Box for 12 at an AFC Wimbledon home game is already up at £3,400 – which is amazing! I’m looking forward to seeing how much we raise. I’m confident that this will be a fantastic fundraiser, and I’m really looking forward to going to Plough Lane on Saturday to be a part of the production team.
What: Quiz and Auction Chat
Organisation: Cricket Without Boundaries and Bat For A Chance
We had a quick Zoom catch-up to check where we are and have taken the decision to launch the Auction on the night of the quiz, which gives me more time to upload everything onto the platform and more time for us all to source prizes. We’re going to leave it live for a month, to push on social media and drive up the bids. I’ve learned a lot from my experience with the DLAG auction, and I’m sure it’ll be much slicker because I know exactly what I need to do. It also looks as though I’ll be running the Only A Pavement Away silent auction when they do their Cook and Dine (probably in September or October), by which time I’ll be an expert in online auctions. I just need to get better at sourcing prizes… For the quiz, I’ve created the picture round, which is a good first round for the quiz to warm everyone up and get them all excited. I’ve collected about 15 images of cricketers when they were children. It was quite a nice little exercise to do, and there were some proper cuties in there, including a gorgeous toddler version of Jofra Archer on a bicycle and Sir Alastair Cook as a choir boy (who knew?!).
