Day 74 of 100 Days
Monday, 15th March 2021
Today was interesting because my two volunteer jobs both focussed on digital fundraising, but they were quite different in how they aim to raise funds. One is a brand new project and the other will be completely finished by the end of the week…
What: Crowdfunding call
Organisation: Only A Pavement Away
I’ve not really had much to do with crowdfunding before, but I was really happy to be included on a call with Only A Pavement Away and a woman called Sarah, who is in charge of the crowdfunding campaigns for Brewdog. Brewdog are well-known for their epic crowdfunding efforts, having funded most of their global business through highly-successful crowdfunding campaigns, so there is a lot of scope for learning something new here. Greg, from OAPA, is really keen to do some crowdfunding to help us raise funds to help more homeless people and as Brewdog are one of our employment partners, it makes total sense for us to talk to their crowdfunding guru. With Sarah’s help, we should be able to put together a really robust plan to raise some funds. We’re aiming to launch something by June/July, which should give us plenty of time.
What: Online Auction
Organisation: Dons Local Action Group
We have turned the corner, and all of the prizes are uploaded! It’s been a mission and it’s been really time-constrained, but we got there in the end. There are a few things to tweak on the images and the wording before Saturday, but because that’s cosmetic and not technical, which means I can do that when I have time over the next couple of days with a fresh pair of eyes. I’ve been looking at these auction lots A LOT over the last week.
In other news, Google have launched a new programme relating to the Online Marketing Challenge and becoming properly certified to work with charities. This is something I’ll look into, as while I’ve been getting to know AdWords really well through my work so far, some formal qualifications will be really handy and good for my personal development too.
