I had to go to the dentist today because my lower-left wisdom tooth has become infected for the second time in six months. I got an emergency appointment and am really keen to nip this one in the bud because last time it went on for about 10 days - and toothache is not a pleasant thing. I had the same dentist as last time, the lovely Dr Rahul, and he prescribed me some antibiotics and has referred me to get the problem tooth removed. It won’t be pleasant, but hopefully it’ll sort me out. It sucks, because I’ve never had so much as a filling on my teeth, and now I’m going to the dentist twice in six months…
What: Google Online Marketing Challenge
Organisation: eQuality Time
Guess what?! New online marketing challenge, new country! Our student team for eQuality Time hails from Madrid, and today, I organised a meeting for Monday morning so that we can meet via Zoom and talk about how to proceed with the challenge. I’d love to have friends from a different country every time I register with this Google initiative (I've got a couple more in the pipeline). I’ve checked off Germany, the Netherlands, and India and I’m excited about working with Spain. It feels good to be a part of Europe again.

With this, I was checking in on how the accounts are doing regarding our Online Marketing Challenges with my friends in India and the Netherlands. We have our closing meeting with DLAG/AFCWF tomorrow and I wanted to check-in on CWB. The problem I’m finding with these projects is sorting out the conversion tagging. For the uninitiated, this is where you get a piece of code and paste it into the back end of your website so that you’re able to track the number of people who visit your site and their behaviours, like if they fill out a form after clicking on one of your ads. It gets tricky with smaller organisations because they don’t always have a specialist web developer who knows where to paste the code. As the websites are often managed by volunteers whose first job is not as a web developer, these issues can go unresolved for a while which leaves you with a low optimisation score and not being able to track your ads. It’s frustrating, but I’m going to try my best to look into it a bit more myself.
What: Minor Design Tweaks
Organisation: Transforming Autism Project
Today, I did a very quick job for TAP as well, where I changed the URL on all the marketing materials I’ve designed for the March for Autism campaign (apparently, the site doesn’t like it with a www in the front, so I had to delete that from www.transformingautism.org). I also had a quick phone call with the charity founder, Guy, about the launch and what we need to do to move forward. I’ve already let them know that while I’m willing to design all the social posts, I’m not up for actually posting them because I struggle to update my own social media as it is.
